Safety

Taken exactly as seriously as it should be.

Experienced guides only

Every guide completes a minimum of 500 logged miles and a load-carrying assessment before their first tour.

Helmets provided

Both guide and guest are fitted with helmets before departure. No helmet, no tour.

Maximum guest weight

108kg (17 stone), in line with our guides' comfortable carrying capacity and bike frame tolerances.

Weather restrictions

Tours are suspended in heavy rain, high winds, or temperatures below 2°C. Balance matters more than bravado.

Routes selected for suitability

Routes are planned to avoid major junctions, dual carriageways, and anywhere a shoulder-mounted guest would be unwise.

Continuous supervision

A support vehicle shadows every tour during the pilot phase, ready to assist if required.

Disclaimer

Shouldr is currently a conceptual and experimental service, presented here as a product concept rather than a live offering. A real-world version of this service would need to fully comply with UK road-safety legislation, guest-carrying and public liability insurance requirements, and all applicable Department for Transport and Transport for London regulations before carrying a single guest.
